New York Times Reporting Indistinguishable from Bad Propaganda: Latest Pussy Riot Story

The New York Times, a preferred outlet for liberal interventionist factions of the US Establishment to advance their Foreign Policy goals, has dropped any pretense of serious reporting to pen the latest against Russia.

February 4, 2016

Andrew Kramer, from the notoriously biased New York Times Russian Bureau, whose extreme agitprop against Russia (example of which extensively documented here) by-lined an article extolling Pussy Riot’s latest video against the Russian Justice System.

Pussy Riot is the current name of a loose collection of fame-seeking artists who made a name for themselves by becoming an agitprop weapon in the West after breaking through and finally getting themselves deliberately arrested after repeated provocations, any of which would most likely have got them killed by an itchy-fingered NYPD, let alone arrested, if tried in New York.

The past works of current impresario Nadezhda Tolokonnikova – who stars in the current video and is the Kim Kardashian of the group-  include staging public orgies (warning NSFW) (much like Kim Kardashian’s successful fame-seeking sex tape) and various other stunts before they committed a hate crime for which they refused to repent and got the minimum prescribed sentence.

Kramer who seems to be channeling his inner BDSM fantasies lasciviously begins his report in a manner not out of place in a breathless Penthouse Forum letter.  Sidetracking for a bit of background and to quote his favorite sources (the anti-corruption activist and and arch nationalist Alexei Navalny), Kramer details the sets and writes of women rapping “lustily”, smiling “slyly”, ending his PR report with this description with his heroine rapping “softly” associating Kramer’s favorite things (“Putin” “Murder” “[Corruption]”). Besides being an insightful look into Kramer’s fantasies, here’s hoping he receives his share of the revenues.

(Incidentally, nowhere does he ask who funds Nadezhda Tolokonnikova’s lavish sets on the video and lifestyle.  I mean how does she actually make money? She has cameos on hit TV shows in the US, travels everywhere (speaking later in the month in Washington).  Who funds this entire enterprise?

Of course THIS would be actual journalism and not for the pages of the New York Times).

Postscript

It would be interesting to hear Pussy Riot’s take on the US Criminal Justice system leading the world in number of people (absolute and per capita) incarcerated (2.2 m, almost 1% of adult population or including parole or probation, 6.9 m or 2.8%); number of people in pre-trial detention (480,000 in 2014, leading  World again); deep racism against minority populations; unchecked violence in the prison system; unpunished abuse by guards (including recent case where a mentally challenged prisoner was left to die in a scalding shower till his skin fell off, a finding dismissed as “accidental”); not to mention capital punishment (suspended in Russia) and existence of not just a modern day Gulag like Guantanamo but those like the notorious Homan Square in the middle of Chicago
